If you are preparing for the DELE A2, I’m sure writing tasks are one of your biggest fears. But don’t fret, today, we are going to be reviewing writing tasks of the DELE A2 and I’ll give you a great tip to get the best grade possible.
Why use linking words?
In the DELE A2 writing tasks, you have to talk about your simple things: daily life, your routines, your family, your city… These topics are not difficult, but there is a secret to you getting a better score….
Use linking words
Indeed, the examiner is not only checking if your sentences are correct. They are also looking at:
- Coherence (do your ideas connect logically?)
- Cohesion (do your sentences flow naturally?)
- Range of language (do you go beyond basic structures?)
And this is exactly where linking words make a difference. Using simple connectors shows that you can:
- Organize your ideas
- Express relationships (contrast, cause, addition…)
- Write more like a real speaker
Not convinced yet? Here is a real-life example. Here is a short text without linking words:
Mi piso es pequeño. Vivo con mi pareja. Está en un barrio tranquilo. Hay un parque. Me gusta pasear allí.
It’s correct, but it sounds a bit like a robot, right? Now look at the same text with linking words:
Mi piso es pequeño, pero vivo con mi pareja y estamos muy cómodos. Además, está en un barrio tranquilo. Hay un parque cerca, por eso me gusta pasear allí todos los días.
DELE A2 linking words
Many students think they need advanced vocabulary to get a good grade. That’s not true at A2. What really helps you stand out is:
- Clear sentences
- Simple but correct grammar
- Basic linking words used naturally

How to improve your DELE A2 writing task
So, once you finish your text, check this:
Do I have at least 3–4 linking words?
If not, go back and add them. I promise, it will make a big difference!
