Hola, ¿qué tal?

My name is Sarah Blanquet and I’m a passionate Spanish teacher.

I’ve been learning languages all my life (in fact, I speak 5) so I know the ups and downs you have to go through to master a new language. That’s why I decided to become a language teacher and help you achieve your learning objectives in a fun and efficient way.

In order to do so, I completed a degree in Translation and a Master Degree in Spanish teaching and I’m now a full-time Spanish teacher who spends most of her days speaking to people from all over the world and sharing with them my language and my culture.

My passions (apart from teaching)

Travelling

I have visited over 20 countries and lived in 3 different continents! I’m always eager to meet new people and share experiences.

For me, travelling means to discover other ways of living and learning more about what it means to be human.

I’m particularly in love with Latin America, and I have traveled there extensively (Perú, Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica and Brazil).

I’ve also lived in different regions of Spain (Navarra, Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid and Galicia) which made me aware of the richness of this vast country.

Finally, I’ve landed in Muxía, where I now enjoy living by the seaside at the end of the Camino de Santiago.

Languages

I was raised bilingual in Spanish and French: my parents are from Belgium but I grew up in Spain. At the age of 13, I lived in the U.S. where I quickly learned English.

This marked the beginning of my interest in translation and different languages.

Since then, I’ve also learned Italian, Portuguese, and a bit of Arabic!

Culture

It fascinates me to discover new music, arts, customs, dances and traditions. I believe all of them form the identity of languages and you must dive into them to discover the richness of every culture. Moreover, my Master thesis was on Intercultural competence, a topic which interests me to this day.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My wife and I undertook a 5 day spanish course with Sarah in Muxía (Galicia) recently and had a fabulous time. She is a very engaging teacher who has infinite patience! This rural part of Spain is well worth visiting and the course allowed us to improve our Castilian language skills as well as ensuring a deeper understanding of the culture of the region (this information was skillfully woven into the course content). Sarah will guide on accommodation and ours was excellent (Sosego d'Oruxo self catering). Despite it being the first rainy week in the area for months, we had a most enjoyable time. There appears to be a microclimate in Muxía where it rarely rains all day! Her husband Alex is an excellent cook and a highlight of our course was seeing him cook the meal on the last day whilst explaining the ingredients/process in spanish as well as discussing Peruvian delicacies.

Right from the start, she was very friendly and professional. Being a conference interpreter, I had specific requirements - Sarah went above and beyond to ensure my Spanish language journey was as tailored and as enjoyable as possible.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I spent a thoroughly enjoyable time in early September at Sarah’s Inmersión Spanish course in Muxía. She is an excellent teacher, friendly and engaging, with a good sense of humour. Her lessons were well prepared and tailored to my requirements. She arranged a free online chat a few weeks beforehand to gauge my level and sent me a lot of relevant course material before I travelled to Muxía. The one to one teaching was of high quality, challenging and stimulating. Sarah included imaginative extra-curricular activities in her course with an informative tour of Muxía, and a walk up through a forested area to  the picturesque hamlet of Moraime with its monastery. There was also a visit to a local market and supermarket to buy ingredients for a cookery session given in Sarah’s home by her charming husband, a professional chef. This was followed by a most enjoyable tapas lunch to round off the course. All in all this is a superb course which I would recommend  regardless of your level of Spanish. It also serves as an excellent introduction to the culture and scenery of this lovely part of Galicia.

The classes were engaging, and Sarah made it easy to build confidence. She is so creative in her teaching methods that learning never felt overly difficult or boring.
