What does the reading section of the DELE A2 look like?
Where is this section located in the exam? The reading section is the first of the DELE A2 tasks.
How many tasks does this section include? This sections includes 4 tasks.
What do I have to do? Answer a total of 25 a-b-c type questions
How much time do I have to read? You have 60 minutes to read and answer all the questions
What types of texts do I have to read?
- Task 1 is an email adressed at a friend, with personal experiences in the present and the past (5 questions)
- Task 2 is a series of 8 short texts such as ads or announcements, such as the ones you can find in stores or public transport (8 questions)
- Task 3 is a set of 3 personal texts talking about personal experiences in the present and the past (6 questions)
- Task 4 is a longer text that is similar to a news article or blog about a topic related to daily life (6 questions).

Tips and tricks for the DELE A2 reading task
As mentioned above, having strategies to help you in the day of the exam can greatly improve your results. Here are my top tips as an official DELE A2 examiner:
- Underline where you can find the answer in the original text. All correct answers must be backed by a specific sentence in the text.
- Search for synonyms or repharsing. Generally, the correct answer will include the same idea as the text, but in other words (Las ofertas = un precio especial, siempre = todos los días)
- Be strategic about the vocabulary you need. Insead of trying to memorize every single new word, focus on vocabulary based on daily aspects. Take a look at this DELE A2 vocabulary list to help you determine what key aspects you should be concentrating on.
- Answer every single question: wrong answers don’t take away points, so try your luck.
Tips and tricks for when you are preparing at home
Finally, here are some simple ideas to help you prepare at home for the exam:
- Read the instructions and questions first: identify exactly the information you need to be looking for in the text.
- Time yourself: most students forget to time themselves and find they run out of time in the actual exam. When preparing at home, always time yourself.
